Malaysia Swimmer: Leong Mun Yee - 梁敏喻

Leong Mun Yee (born 4 December 1984 in Perak, Malaysia) is a Malaysian diver. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the 10 m platform synchronised event with her partner Pandelela Rinong.

  

She participated in three other Olympic Games: 2000 (3m springboard, 10m platform), 2004(3m springboard, 10m platform) and 2008 (3m springboard, 3m springboard synchronised). Her appearance at the 2008 Summer Olympics made her the first Malaysian diver to compete at three Olympics.  

 

The bronze medal that she and Rinong won at the 2009 World Championships was the first World Championship medal for Malaysia.

 

She and Cheong Jun Hoong competed in the 10 m platform synchronised event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

She was originally a swimmer but switched to diving at the age of 10 as part of Malaysia's programme to prepare a diving team for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

Yu would win three bronze medals in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore. Her three bronze medals came in the 100 m backstroke, the 200 m backstroke, and the 4 x 100 m medley relay, where she teamed up with Hannah Dato, Imelda Corazon Wistey, and 2012 Olympian Jasmine Alkhaldi to a medal finish with a new national record of 4:16.19. Yu would also compete in the 50 m backstroke and the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay, but failed to qualify for the final in the former and finishing 4th in the latter.

(born 5 September 1990 is a former South Korean figure skater. She is the 2010 Olympic championand 2014 silver medalist in ladies' singles; the 2009, 2013 World champion; the 2009 Four Continents champion; a three-time (2006–2007, 2007–2008, 2009–2010) Grand Prix Final champion; the 2006 World Junior champion; the 2005 Junior Grand Prix Final champion; and a six-time (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014) South Korean national champion.


Kim is the first South Korean figure skater to win a medal at an ISU Junior or Senior Grand Prix event, ISU Championship, and the Olympic Games. She is the first female skater to win the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the Four Continents Championships and the Grand Prix Final. She is one of the most highly recognized athletes and media figures in South Korea. As a result of her numerous accomplishments, she is frequently referred to as "Queen Yuna" by various media across the world.

 

She is the current record holder for ladies in the combined total under the ISU Judging System. She has broken world record scores 11 times under the ISU Judging System since 2007, eight of which being records she herself set. She is also the first female skater to surpass the 140-point and 150-point free skating mark and the 200-point total mark] under the ISU Judging System. Throughout her entire career, Kim had never finished a competition off the podium. She is considered to be among the best ladies figure skaters of all time.

South Korean Professional Golfer - Michelle Sung Wie


Michelle Sung Wie (born October 11, 1989) is a Korean American female professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. At age 10, she became the youngest player to qualify for a USGA amateur championship. Wie also became the youngest winner of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and the youngest to qualify for a LPGA Tour event. She turned professional shortly before her 16th birthday in 2005, accompanied by an enormous amount of publicity and endorsements.She won her first major at the 2014 U.S. Women's Open.









Wie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the only child of immigrant parents from South Korea who came to the United States in the 1980s. Her father, Wie Byung-wook, is a former professor of transportation management at the University of Hawaii. Her mother, Bo, was South Korea's women's amateur golf champion in 1985, and competed in a Miss Korea beauty pageant. Her paternal grandfather, Dr. Sang-Kyu Wie, a resident of Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, was an emeritus professor at Seoul National University. When she was born, Wie was a dual citizen of South Korea (by jus sanguinis) and the United States (by jus soli). She renounced South Korean citizenship in February 2013.


Wie graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu in June 2007. On December 19, 2006, she announced that she would be attending Stanford University, where there are family ties. Her paternal grandfather was a visiting professor, and an aunt and uncle are both graduates. She enrolled in September 2007 as a freshman, but as a professional golfer, Wie was not eligible under NCAA rules to play for Stanford's golf team. During her first three years at Stanford, she attended only during the fall and winter quarters, running from late September through mid-March each year. She took leaves of absence during the rest of the year to play professional golf. Wie completed her studies at Stanford in March 2012 with a major in communications. She participated in the university's graduation ceremony in June 2012.

 

 



  

  

 


Singapore Diver - Myra Lee Jia Wen

Myra Lee Jia Wen  

(born 4 April 1994 in Singapore) is a Singaporean diver.



In 2010, Myra participated in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. She managed to overcome a back injury she suffered during the preliminary round of theGirls' 10m platform and competed in the finals. However, the injury affected her performance and she finished last.

 

In 2013, Myra took part in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games along with her partner Fong Kay Yian in the Women's synchronized 3 m springboard event which the duo won the bronze medal.

 

A year later, she competed in the 2014 Asian Games Women's 1 metre springboard and Women's 3 metre springboard. She also took part in the Women's synchronized 3 metre springboard with Fong Kay Yian.

 

At the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, she won a silver medal in the Women's synchronized 10 m platform event with her partner Freida Lim Shen-Yan.
